Marie Curie Crochet Every Day

It is now March and I will be taking part in the Marie Curie Crochet Every Day Challenge to raise money for Marie Curie. My friend is a Marie Curie nurse so I will be doing it in her honour and to raise funds to keep this wonderful service running. You can read about Gill and how crochet has been her therapy since her mum died here. It is hard to believe that I don’t actually crochet every day but throughout March I am going to make sure I do!

I have previously written about three ways crochet saved me, including getting over the grief of losing my own cousin to suicide, so I can really resonate with all that Gill describes in her article.

This week I went to the Stitch Festival at The Business Design Centre in Islington. It was a nice couple of hours with my mum and I picked up some yummy yarn. It is running over the weekend too if you fancied getting some tickets.  It’s not as big as the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace but it has some nice things to look at and buy.

How to help Ukraine

On a sadder note, we have all been upset by the horrors taking place in Ukraine. When an invasion breaks out as it has in Ukraine this past week we can only imagine the horrors that they are going through. There is a small way we crafters can help in this situation and that is by supporting small businesses on Etsy.

Hear me out… Many people sell passive products on Etsy. That means that no actual shipping needs to take place, for example a digital crochet pattern or a digital planner or social media templates.

In buying a digital product from Etsy you can choose to filter by country which means you will be able to purchase from a business in Ukraine and get money straight to fellow crafters and creators. It’s a small gesture and there are plenty of other ways you can support too but I wanted to highlight the unforeseen ways to offer support.
